Springfield Primary School in Tilehurst, UK is the recipient of a HeartSine samaritan® PAD 350P (SAM 350P) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) donated by MMB Education (MMBE), an organization that bid on the unit at a fundraising event for Arrhythmia Alliance (A-A) – Lilly-May Page.
MMBE, a recruitment specialist in the education sector, won the lifesaving AED at a golf event and fundraiser organized by Sonning Golf Club. The event raised over £6000 for the non-profit organization, which is dedicated to raising awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and placing AEDs in schools. HeartSine donated the AED that was ultimately auctioned off for over £900. The device will be placed in the school to protect the school’s students, staff members, and the local community in the event of an SCA.
SCA can strike regardless of age, race or gender, affecting all ages from infants to seniors. With 84 percent of SCA incidents taking place outside of the healthcare setting, including at schools and during sporting events, it is imperative to place AEDs throughout public spaces.
